The Deree Tennis Academy had a successful participation with 24 athletes in the E2 tournaments held in Kalamata and Heraklion, Crete, on February 17-21.

In doubles, Marily Iliopoulou and Antonis Malavazos won the 2^nd place in the U16 category with their teammates Maria Redoumi and Nikolaos Zachos respectively, while in singles, Melina Papageorgiou, Marily Iliopoulou, George Tzitzimikas, Christos Papachristou, and Alexandros Verykokos reached the semi-finals.

Congratulations to all athletes for their effort and good luck in their future tournaments.

Successful participation for Deree Tennis Academy young athletes at the “OPEN U8-U10” tennis tournaments, held at SEF stadium in P. Faliro, on February 17-19.

Nikolas Chatzisarantos and Eleana Chatzisarantou won the 1^st place in U10 boys’ and U10 girls’ category, while Orestis Verykokos, who participated in two categories, won the 2^nd place in U8 boys’ and the 3^rd place in U10 boys’.

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes Yiannis Sakkas, Antonis Malavazos, Alexandros Verykokos, Marily Iliopoulou and Eugenia Kakari, performed very well at the U16 Tennis Europe International Tournament – Category 2, held January 16-21 in Larnaca, Cyprus.

Yiannis Sakkas, Pierce student on an athletic scholarship, won the 2^nd place in doubles by achieving three wins, and reached the quarterfinals in singles by achieving two wins!

The Deree Tennis Academy participated with 3 athletes – Marily Iliopoulou, Elli Gerontikou and Kakari Eugenia –  in the women’s National division-C’ team championship, held in Rafina on December 9-11, and won the 1^st place and the  promotion to the women’s National division-B’, for the first time in our history!

Congratulations to our athletes and coaches for this great achievement!

Elli Gerontikou won the 1^st place with 4 wins, in U14 E3 Open Pan-Hellenic tennis tournament held at Vari, on December 3-5.

That was the last individual tournament for the Deree Tennis Academy in 2022.

Last competitive obligation is the participation in the women’s teams championship in Rafina, 9-11 December, where our young athletes will compete in order to advance to the women’s National division-B’.

Our Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well at the E1 Pan-Hellenic tennis tournament held on November 11-15 in Thessaloniki, as well as at the Tennis Europe international tournament, held on November 7-12 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Yiannis Sakkas, Pierce student on an athletic scholarship, won the 1^st place in singles and the 3^rd place in doubles (U16), Marily Iliopoulou won the 3^rd place in doubles in the same category, Antonis Malavazos won the 2^nd place in doubles and the 3^rd place in singles (U14), and Anastasia Babaroutsi won the 3^rd place in the same category.

At the Tennis Europe tournament, Melina Papageorgiou and Antonis Malavazos reached the semi-finals, and Valia Volonaki and Efthalia Andrianou reached the final-16.

Our Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well at the E2 Panhellenic tennis tournaments held October 28-November 1 in Souda (Crete), and Peristeri and Marathon (Athens).

Melina Papageorgiou won the 2^nd place in singles (U14) in in Souda, while Antonis Malavazos with Konstantinos Papanastasiou and Anastasia Babaroutsi with Christina Amourgianou won the 1^st place in doubles (U14) in Peristeri.

Marily Iliopoulou won the 1^st place in doubles (U16) along with Maria Redoumi, while our Pierce student on an athletic scholarship, Yiannis Sakkas with Marily Iliopoulou won the 3^rd place in singles (U16) in Marathon.

Our Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well in tournaments held in October.

In the E3 Open tournaments, Anastasia Babaroutsi won the 2^nd place (U16) in Ilioupoli on October 1-3, Maria Boubari and Pelagia Sarri won the 3^rd place (U14) in Argos on October 7-9, and Ilida Stylianou won the 2^nd place (U12), in Rafina on October 14-17.

Antonis Malavazos won the 2^nd place (U14) in doubles at the E1 Pan-Hellenic tournament held in Larissa, on October 8-11.

Yiannis Sakkas, Pierce student on an athletic scholarship, won the 2^nd place in singles at the U16 “Tennis Europe” International Tournament, held on October 3-8 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Yiannis won 4 matches until the final, and reached his second final in international tournaments within the last two months.

This resulted in climbing 150 spots in the international ranking of his age group, going from #340 to #190!

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes had a successful participation at the E4 tennis tournament, held in Marathon, September 23-26.

Pelagia Sarri won the 1^st place in girls’ category, with 4 victories until the final game, and Orestis Oreopoulos reached the semi-final in the boys’ category.
