Thanasis Kostikas at Bard College on an academic scholarship!

Our tennis athlete Thanasis Kostikas was accepted with an academic scholarship to Bard College located in the state of New York (https://www.bard.edu/)!

Thanasis was a member of our program since he was eight years old, and has been a member of our competition team for 9 years now, managing to perfectly combine high academic and athletic performance! Now he will be able to continue doing so in the United States, as he was also selected to join the College tennis team!

Congratulations Thanasis, your coaches and the club are proud of you and we will be happy to see you accomplishing great things!

4th place in total ranking for the Deree Track & Field Academy in the U16 Boys & Girls Pan-Hellenic championship/4th group!

Great success for Deree Track & Field Academy by winning the 4th place in the Pan-Hellenic U16 Boys-Girls Championship/4th Group, held at EAK Agios Kosmas on the weekend of July 2-3!

In the games 56 clubs participated, and our team also won:

  • the 1st place in 80m. U16 boys with Filippos Georgandas with 9.27,
  • the 3rd place in the 4X80m. relay U16 boys with 37.92, with Giorgos Pavlopoulos, Apostolos Kantarinis, Panagiotis Pavlopoulos, Filippos Georgantas,
  • the 3rd place in the 4X80m. relay U16 girls with 41.52, with Olga Foundoulaki, Aikaterini Aktypi, Eleni Stathopoulou, Evelyn Mitropoulou,
  • the 3rd place in the girls’ U16 high jump with Eleni Stathopoulou with 1.50,
  • the 3rd place in the U16 girls’ long jump with Evelyn Mitropoulou with 5.30.

The Deree Swim Academy with 3 swimmers at the European Junior swimming championship with the National team!

Three swimmers of the Deree Swim Academy, Dimitris Tsaliagkos, Antonia Rakopoulou and Anastasia Boutou travel on Sunday, July 7, with the National swim youth team (U18) to Otopeni, Romania, in order to participate in the 2022 LEN European Junior Swimming and Diving championships!

This is the most important event of this age group, with the top European swimmers participating! Dimitris will compete in the 50-100-200m breaststroke, Antonia in the 400-800-1500m freestyle, and Anastasia in the 100m freestyle and  the 4×200 freestyle relay.

Thodoris Mitsakos at the University at Buffalo on an athletic scholarship!

Theodoris Mitsakos was accepted at the University at Buffalo on a tennis athletic scholarship!

University at Buffalo is an NCAA Division 1 institution offering also an excellent academic program, which will give Thodoris the opportunity to perfectly combine his studies with sports and tennis!
Thodoris joined the Deree Tennis Academy and began attending Pierce College from grade 7, on an athletic scholarship in tennis six years ago.
His daily hard effort, excellent character and his dedication to his student obligations led him to many successes over the years;  he won the Panhellenic junior championship 5 times in a row, won many titles in international competitions, reached the 124th place in the world ranking, and he received an invitation and traveled to Melbourne to participate in the Australian Open Junior Championship 2022!

Congratulations Thodoris, we wish you every success in your new academic and athletic environment. Your teachers and coaches are proud of you and we will be happy to see you accomplishing great things!

          

Xanthi and Chryssa Mitsakou with the National swim team at the Mediterranean Games!

Our swimmers, Xanthi and Chryssa Mitsakou are off to Oran, Algeria traveling with the National swim team in order to participate in the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, which brings together 26 countries!

Xanthi will compete in  200m-400m freestyle and  200m butterfly, and Chryssa in  100-200-400m freestyle and 400m mixed individual medley.

This is the first time in the history of the Deree College Athletic Club, that two of our athletes are members of the National Men’s & Women’s team in such an important event. This is a richly deserved reward for our two swimmers, who – for eight years now –  are the best example to our youngest athletes, with their every day hard work, devotion, and ethos!

2nd place for our U15 team in the E.S.K.A. Final-4!

Our U15 team won the second place in the E.S.K.A. Final-4, as after its win over Apollon Smyrni with 65-49, lost the final in details to GS Peristeriou with 61-60, after a heart breaking game in which both teams played excellent and deserved the win!

Congratulations to our young athletes who finished the season with great success, and to the athletes of all teams who gave their best effort in the E.S.K.A Final-4, which was successfully organized on June 25-26!

Very successful participation at the Ten Pro Global Junior Tour in Belgium!

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes had a very successful participation at the Ten Pro Global Junior Tour international tournament held at the Kim Clijsters Academy in Belgium June 20-26. 13 athletes of our team took part in the tournament, and achieved a total of 58 wins!
Giannis Sakkas won the 1st place in the U16 category and the 2nd place in the U15 category, Elli Gerontikou the 1st place in the U14 category, Eugenia Kakari the 2nd place in the U16 category and the 3rd place in the U15 category, Marily Iliopoulou the 3rd place in the U16 category, and Valia Volonaki the 3rd place in the U13 category.

Congratulations to all for their effort and excellent performances!

 

The Deree Basketball Academy participates in the ESKA U15 Final-4 on June 25-26!

With a win of 81-65 against the G.S. Vrilission team, the U15 team of the Deree Basketball Academy was qualified for the third time in its history to the ESKA U15 Final-4!

Our team won the 3rd place in 2015, and the 4th in 2019.

Congratulations to all players for their dedication, and to their coaches for the excellent work that led our team to the Final-4!

Ioanna Tsoni won the 2nd place in the U18 PanHellenic Championship, and qualified to the European championship!

Ioanna Tsoni (Pierce student on an athletic scholarship) won the silver medal in the PanHellenic championship, held in Volos, June 18-19.

Ioanna achieved the best ever result by a Deree Track & Field Academy athlete, with 14,28 in the 100m hurdles and reached the limit for the European Championship that will be held on July 4-7 in Jerusalem!

Excellent performances were also made in the 100m, by Emilios Skourtis (Pierce student on an athletic scholarship) with 11,34 and Filippos Georgantas, who achieved a personal best with 11,54.

Filippos Koutsioumpas also achieved a personal best in the long jump with 5,21m, while the U18 boys 4x100m relay team run the distance in 47,12.

Very good performances, one silver medal and qualification to the PanHellenic championship for the Deree Track & Field Academy!

With one silver medal, qualification to the PanHellenic championship, and very good performance the Deree Track & Field Academy concluded their participation

in the “Tassos Xenos” event, held on June 15 in Cholargos.

Maria-Agathi Tzamakou achieved an individual record in the Girls U16 quadruple with a jump at 12.65m which won her the second place!

Christina Xanthopoulou (4.17.91), Eleni Sandraveli (4.36.35) and Katerina Georgakopoulou (4.52.94), also achieved individual records in the 1200m, while Maria Karlafti (11.50) in the 80m, and Apostolos Kontarinis (19.13) in the 150m, had a good race.

Our U18 athletes depart today to Volos, in order to participate in the Pan-Hellenic championship that will be held at the Panthessaliko Stadium.

Ioanna Tsoni (Pierce student on an athletic scholarship) participates in the 100m hurdles, Emilios Skourtis (Pierce student on an athletic scholarship), Filippos Georgantas, George Pavlopoulos participate in the 100m. The three of them, along with Filippos Koutsioubas – who will be participating in the long jump – will be our 4×100 relay team.
