Congratulations to Konstantinos Papanastasiou for his successful participation at the U16 E3 tennis tournament, held May 26-29 in Ilioupoli.

Konstantinos won the 2^nd place, with 3 victories in a raw until the final game.

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed excellent in the E1 Panhellenic tennis tournament, held in Kilkis on May 12-16 and achieved the following distinctions:

• Marily Iliopoulou – 1^stplace in doubles (girls U16) with teammate Irini Tsakiri
• Yiannis Sakkas – 2^ndplace in singles (boys U16)
• Melina Papageorgiou – 3^rdplace in the girls’ doubles (U16)
• Antonis Malavazos – 3^rdplace in the boys’ doubles (U16).

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well in the Panhellenic tennis championship, held on April 18-26 at the Athens Tennis Club, and in Raina and Porto Rafti, with more than 190 athletes participating from all over Greece.

Yiannis Sakkas in 16+ age group won the 2nd place in doubles with his teammate Andreas Messis, while in singles he reached the final-4.

Konstantinos Papanastasiou reached the top-16 in singles (16+), while in doubles, he, Marily Iliopoulou and Elli Gerontikou, reached the quarterfinals.

The Deree Tennis Academy had a successful participation at the E3 tennis tournament held in Vari, on March 24-28.

Celia Papadea and Athena Pagomenou reached the final in the U14 age group, after winning four matches. Celia won the final and the first place, and Athena finished second in an exciting final which ended 63-62!

Yiannis Sakkas, Deree Tennis Academy athlete and Pierce student on an athletic scholarship, participated last week in the U16 Tennis Europe Category-1 International Tournament, held in Torelló, Spain, in which the top internationally ranked athletes participated.

Yiannis with Stefanos Pournaropoulos won the doubles, after achieving four victories!

In the first round, they won Fermin Barcala Lopez and Eric Maestre Gomez from Spain (4-6, 6-3, 11-9 in the super tie-break), while in the second round they won Christian Pizzolante and Pierandrea Marcello Valente from Italy (6-3, 6-2).

In the semi-final, they faced the #1 couple of the tournament, Kolos Kincses from Hungary and Arturs Zagars from Latvia (6-4, 3-6 and 10-4 in the super tie-break), and in the final game they won the #2 couple of the tournament Joao Morgado from Portugal and Jan Smrcka from Germany (6-4, 6-3).

In singles, Yiannis lost in the first round to Joao Morgado after a very tight match (2-6, 4-6).

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well at the U16 E2 Panhellenic tennis tournaments, held in Arta and Filothei on March 10-14.

Melina Papageorgiou and Eugenia Kakari won the 2^nd place in doubles in gilrs’ U16, in Arta, while Melina reached the semi-finals and won the 3^rd place in singles in the same category.

Andrianou Ethalia performed very well in the tournament in Filothei, reached the semi-finals, and won the 3^rd place in singles.

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well at E1 & E4 tennis tournaments held on March 3-7 in Papagos, Cholargos, Ilioupoli, and Glyfada.

Nikiforos Tzanis won the 1^st place in U16 boys’ category at the E4 tournament at Cholargos, while Efthalia Andrianou reached the quarter finals in U16 girls’ category at the E1 tournament in Papagos.

In doubles, Paris Passas and George Tzitzimikas won the 3^rd place in U16 boys’ category, while Yiannis Sakkas, although he competed against older athletes, reached the quarter finals in singles in the U18 boys’ category at the E1 tournament in Ilioupoli.

The Deree Tennis Academy had a very successful participation at U16 E3 tennis tournaments, held in Marathon and Ilioupoli on February 25-27.

Marily Iliopoulou won the 1^st place in girls’ U16, while Euthalia Andrianou won the 2^nd place, in an amazing final played between our two athletes!

Additionally, Konstantinos Papanastasiou won the 1^st place in boys’ U16, in Ilioupoli, while Paris Passas won the 2^nd place in Marathon.

Congratulations to all our athletes, who made it to the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals of the tournaments, and played excellent tennis against each other!

The Deree Tennis Academy had a successful participation with 24 athletes in the E2 tournaments held in Kalamata and Heraklion, Crete, on February 17-21.

In doubles, Marily Iliopoulou and Antonis Malavazos won the 2^nd place in the U16 category with their teammates Maria Redoumi and Nikolaos Zachos respectively, while in singles, Melina Papageorgiou, Marily Iliopoulou, George Tzitzimikas, Christos Papachristou, and Alexandros Verykokos reached the semi-finals.

Successful participation for Deree Tennis Academy young athletes at the “OPEN U8-U10” tennis tournaments, held at SEF stadium in P. Faliro, on February 17-19.

Nikolas Chatzisarantos and Eleana Chatzisarantou won the 1^st place in U10 boys’ and U10 girls’ category, while Orestis Verykokos, who participated in two categories, won the 2^nd place in U8 boys’ and the 3^rd place in U10 boys’.
