Promotion of the DCAC and Deree Tennis Academy to the Men’s A’ National Division – the Women’s team continue in the B’ National Division!

The Deree Tennis Academy competitive team achieved significant success at the recent National B’ Division Championship held in Rafina over two phases: November 29 to December 2 and December 6 to 9.

Our men’s team remained undefeated during the group stage and advanced to the second phase of the playoffs, securing first place and earning promotion to the Men’s National A’ Division.

The National A’ Division features 16 teams out of a total of 234 clubs.

The members of our men’s team were:

  • Thodoris Mitsakos
  • Giannis Sakkas
  • Dimitris Goutas
  • Loukas Podaropoulos

Our women’s team also remained undefeated in the group stage and advanced to the second phase of the playoffs. While they did not achieve promotion to the National A’ Division, they secured their place in the Women’s National B’ Division, marking another noteworthy achievement.

The National B’ Division includes 32 teams out of a total of 234 clubs.

The members of our women’s team were:

  • Elli Gerontikou
  • Elena Dapsi
  • Melina Papageorgiou
  • Valia Volonaki

Athletes from the Deree Tennis Academy compete for the 1st and 2nd place in the “Masters 2024”.

Two athletes from the Deree Tennis Academy, Dionysis Kontogiorgis and Nikolas Daskos, are delivering excellent performances at the “Masters 2024” in the U12 category, featuring the top 8 players in the national rankings for 2024.

This is arguably the most important tournament for Junior athletes, held at the Athens Tennis Club on November 15-19.

Dionysis Kontogiorgis secured 3 out of 3 wins, finishing 1st in his group, while Nikolas Daskos achieved 2 out of 3 wins and also topped his group.

Our athletes are competing against each other today for the 1st and 2nd place in this year’s Masters.

Congratulations to both of our athletes — you are both winners!

Results of the E1 tennis tournament in Peristeri and Petroupoli for the Deree Tennis Academy.

With a great success participated the Deree Tennis Academy at the E1 tennis tournament, held from November 8-12 in Peristeri and Petroupoli.

Specifically, at the E1 tournament in Peristeri:

  • Elli Gerontikou and Elena Dapsi secured the 3rd place in the U18 singles category, both competing in a higher age group.
  • Anastasia Bambaroutsi achieved the 2nd place in the U16 doubles category.
  • Nikolas Daskos claimed the 3rd place in the U12 singles category.
  • Spyros Chatzispyros also took the 3rd place in the U12 doubles category.

Deree Tennis Academy athlete and Pierce student Yiannis Sakkas, earns an athletic scholarship from Binghamton University!

Yiannis Sakkas, Deree Tennis Academy athlete and Pierce scholarship student, has been accepted to Binghamton University, USA with a tennis athletic scholarship.
Binghamton University is ranked among the prestigious Public Ivies and competes athletically in Division I of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association).
Yiannis will have the opportunity to study at one of the top academic universities while continuing to play tennis at a very high level.

Yiannis joined the Deree Tennis Academy in 2019, the same year he began attending Pierce as a 7th-grade student on a tennis scholarship.
It is worth noting that he is the second athlete from the Deree Tennis Academy to secure an athletic scholarship to a U.S. university, following Theodoros Mitsakos.

Deree Tennis Academy head coach, George Karagiannis, at the Tennis Europe International Coaches Conference in Cyprus.

The head coach of the Deree Tennis Academy, Giorgos Karagiannis, will participate in the International Coaches Conference organized by Tennis Europe in Cyprus on October 31 – November 3.

The conference will take place in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, and up to 100 coaches from around the world will attend. Topics of discussion will include coaching methods for athlete development and transitioning from junior to professional levels.

Additionally, coaching systems and methodologies from the Italian and British federations will be analyzed, alongside talks from world-class athletes such as Marcos Pagdatis and Ernests Gulbis.

New training methodologies will also be presented, focusing on technological advancements and their application in tennis.

Participation of the Deree Tennis Academy in the E3 National Tournaments in Ilioupoli and Edessa.

The E3 National Tournaments held in Ilioupoli and Edessa on October 18 to 22 were successfully completed, with athletes from the Deree Tennis Academy achieving a total of 2 first-place wins, 1 second-place finish, and three third-place finishes.

Specifically, in the E3 tournament in Ilioupoli, Spyros Chatzispyros won 1st place in the Boys U12 category, and Anastasia Babaroutsi won 1st place in the Girls U16 category. In the same tournament, Giorgos Bouskos, Pelagia Sarri, and Olivia Georgana claimed 3rd place in the Boys U16, Girls U16, and Girls U12 categories.

In the tournament held in Edessa, Nikolas Daskos achieved  the 2nd place in the Boys U14 category, competing in an age group above his own.

Results of the Deree Tennis Academy from the International Tournaments in Istanbul and Addis Ababa.

The Deree Tennis Academy successfully participated in the ITF Junior Tour international tennis tournaments, held on October 14-20 in Istanbul and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).

Antonis Malavazos took part in the International Tournament in Ethiopia and secured the 3rd place in both singles and doubles, achieving a rise of 1,000 places in the ITF Junior World Rankings.

At the same time, Elli Gerontikou, Giorgos Karagkioules, Konstantinos Lefakis, and Giorgos Bouskos competed in the International Tennis Tournament in Istanbul. Konstantinos Lefakis and Giorgos Bouskos celebrated their first international victories, advancing to the second round of the qualifying matches, while Elli Gerontikou had a very successful run in the doubles event, reaching the quarterfinals alongside her partner.

Welcome Konstantinos Konetas to the Deree Tennis Academy!

We are pleased to announce the start of our collaboration with Konstantinos Konetas, who will strengthen the Deree Tennis Academy, in competitive, as well as the junior, divisions.

Konstantinos has many years of coaching experience at a competitive level and has specifically worked on the development and creation of competitive-level athletes aged 8-18.

He holds a degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (T.E.F.A.A.) with a specialization in Tennis, and has attended international coaching seminars.

His experience in various roles, combined with his ability to develop young athletes, makes him a valuable addition to our coaching staff!

His goal is to contribute his knowledge to the development of the Deree Sports Academy.
