Thodoris Mitsakos at the University at Buffalo on an athletic scholarship!

Theodoris Mitsakos was accepted at the University at Buffalo on a tennis athletic scholarship!

University at Buffalo is an NCAA Division 1 institution offering also an excellent academic program, which will give Thodoris the opportunity to perfectly combine his studies with sports and tennis!
Thodoris joined the Deree Tennis Academy and began attending Pierce College from grade 7, on an athletic scholarship in tennis six years ago.
His daily hard effort, excellent character and his dedication to his student obligations led him to many successes over the years;  he won the Panhellenic junior championship 5 times in a row, won many titles in international competitions, reached the 124th place in the world ranking, and he received an invitation and traveled to Melbourne to participate in the Australian Open Junior Championship 2022!

Xanthi and Chryssa Mitsakou with the National swim team at the Mediterranean Games!

Our swimmers, Xanthi and Chryssa Mitsakou are off to Oran, Algeria traveling with the National swim team in order to participate in the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, which brings together 26 countries!

Xanthi will compete in  200m-400m freestyle and  200m butterfly, and Chryssa in  100-200-400m freestyle and 400m mixed individual medley.

This is the first time in the history of the Deree College Athletic Club, that two of our athletes are members of the National Men’s & Women’s team in such an important event. Good luck to Xanthi, Chryssa, and the Greek National team!

For Alkis..

Dear parents and fans of the Deree College Athletic Club,

Dear parents and fans of opponent teams,

Speechless, we have all observed the recent murderous assault in Thessaloniki, which has been added to a long list of similar cases over the years.

Apart from the measures that have been taken at times and will be taken in the future as we believe that prevention and education play a significant role in shaping healthy thinking fans, we call upon you to get the message across that sports make individuals better and do not create criminals!

If we don’t educate our children, as well as ourselves, and instill a love for sports, sportsmanship, and respect towards everyone – both friends and opponents – no matter how many measures we take, how many disciplinary actions we take, or how many prisons we make, they will never be enough.

We would like to kindly request that we treat all athletes as if they were our children at every individual or team sport competition, cheering them on, rewarding them for their effort! It is certain that such an atmosphere in the bleachers will help them perform better and be happy in the athletic environment.

The victory or defeat, as an athletic outcome, is unavoidable for one of the two teams or for the athletes in individual sports.

By giving our best effort in a health athletic environment is a victory in every game which we can all enjoy – athletes, parents and fans alike!

We are totally convinced that sports as an integral part of education, can shape our children’s character and have a positive influence on adults as well, creating better individuals and better fans.

Let’s all do whatever we can so that Alki’s bloodshed will be the last one and our behavior to comfort the unspeakable pain of his loved ones so that his sacrifice will not be in vain.

In this effort, we will be glad to welcome you to every game or competition, together contributing to a better future!

Deree College Athletic Club

Announcement concerning the operation of our athletic facilities (1/31/2022).

Following the recent severe weather conditions, the problems that emerged due to the heavy snowfall, and the gradually restoration of the damages, on Monday, January 31 the Deree Gym, the Pierce Gym and the Fitness Center will be available for use, and the Deree Basketball Academy and the Deree Volleyball Academy will operate with their usual schedule.

The swimming pool will remain closed today – since the water temperature at 09:30 a.m. was at 22.7 ˚C – aiming, by keeping the pool blankets on, to help the water reach a higher temperature in order to be able to open the facility tomorrow.

The ACG soccer and track complex is covered with snow and ice, and since the specifications of the artificial Eco-friendly turf do not allow its use in similar conditions, the facility will remain closed.

The Deree tennis courts are still covered in snow and ice, and will remain closed.

Following the aforementioned, the Deree Swim Academy, Deree Tennis Academy, Deree Soccer Academy, Deree Track & Field Academy will not operate today.

Damage repair works are underway to ensure that the athletic facilities will be delivered the soonest, safe to use.
