Welcome Vasilis Demetis!

We are pleased to announce Mr. Vassilis Demetis as the assistant coach of the Deree College Athletic Club swim team and the coordinator of the Deree Swim Academy

Vassilis Demetis was a member of the Greek National swim team for many years. He participated in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, and in European and World Championships, with participation and distinctions in the finals of major events, and medals in European U18 Championships!

After the end of his athletic career in 2010, he started working as a coach at all age groups and administrator in swim clubs and academies with great success!

Vasilis, welcome and good luck on your new duties!

Welcome Antonis Antoniou!

We are pleased to announce Mr. Antonis Antoniou as the head coach of the Deree College Athletic Club swim team!

Mr. Antoniou is fully fulfilling the following conditions set by our Club:

  • Exclusive and full-time employment, so that he is fully committed to the progress of the team and our swimmers.
  • Integrity of character, so that he is completely honest and fair towards all athletes and coaches.
  • Professional competence, so that – with hard work always – to continue the successful operation and progress of the swim team and its swimmers.

Antonis Antoniou, after a successful career for two decades as a swimmer, has a continuous presence for another two decades as a coach with many and important successes!

In the coming days, the coaches in the pre-competition and Elite teams, and the head of the swim academy will be announced.

We wish Antonis all the best in his new duties with the DCAC!

Thank you Dimitris Papaharizanou!

The coach of our competitive swim team, Dimitris Papaharizanou, decided after a very successful decade to move forward to the next step of his professional career.

Dimitris, thank you for your contribution, commitment, and devotion to your duties all these years, which resulted to many successes such as the winning of the National Age Groups title in 2021, and the second place in 2022!

Dimitris, we wish you all the best for the future, on a personal and professional level!

1st place in girls, 2nd in total ranking and boys in the National age groups swim championship!

The Deree Swim Academy continues their success in National level in age groups, as – after last year’s 1st place – our team won the 1st place in girls and the 2nd in total ranking and boys, in the 2022 Pan-Hellenic age groups swim championship organized June 13-16 at OAKA!

Additionally, Antonia Rakopoulou was named the best swimmer in girls and Stratos Patsoureas the best swimmer in boys!

Congratulations to all our swimmers and coaches Dimitris Papaharizanou, Sofia Mantaloufa, Yiannis Sirbopoulos, Gianna Athanasopoulou, Vassilis Bougioukos, Dimitris Voutsas and Kalypso Economidou for their excellent performance and behavior!

Thanasis Kostikas at Bard College on an academic scholarship!

Our tennis athlete Thanasis Kostikas was accepted with an academic scholarship to Bard College located in the state of New York (https://www.bard.edu/)!

Thanasis was a member of our program since he was eight years old, and has been a member of our competition team for 9 years now, managing to perfectly combine high academic and athletic performance! Now he will be able to continue doing so in the United States, as he was also selected to join the College tennis team!

Congratulations Thanasis, your coaches and the club are proud of you and we will be happy to see you accomplishing great things!

4th place in total ranking for the Deree Track & Field Academy in the U16 Boys & Girls Pan-Hellenic championship/4th group!

Great success for Deree Track & Field Academy by winning the 4th place in the Pan-Hellenic U16 Boys-Girls Championship/4th Group, held at EAK Agios Kosmas on the weekend of July 2-3!

In the games 56 clubs participated, and our team also won:

  • the 1st place in 80m. U16 boys with Filippos Georgandas with 9.27,
  • the 3rd place in the 4X80m. relay U16 boys with 37.92, with Giorgos Pavlopoulos, Apostolos Kontarinis, Panagiotis Pavlopoulos, Filippos Georgantas,
  • the 3rd place in the 4X80m. relay U16 girls with 41.52, with Olga Foundoulaki, Aikaterini Aktypi, Eleni Stathopoulou, Evelyn Mitropoulou,
  • the 3rd place in the girls’ U16 high jump with Eleni Stathopoulou with 1.50,
  • the 3rd place in the U16 girls’ long jump with Evelyn Mitropoulou with 5.30.

The Deree Swim Academy with 3 swimmers at the European Junior swimming championship with the National team!

Three swimmers of the Deree Swim Academy, Dimitris Tsaliagkos, Antonia Rakopoulou and Anastasia Boutou travel on Sunday, July 7, with the National swim youth team (U18) to Otopeni, Romania, in order to participate in the 2022 LEN European Junior Swimming and Diving championships!

This is the most important event of this age group, with the top European swimmers participating! Dimitris will compete in the 50-100-200m breaststroke, Antonia in the 400-800-1500m freestyle, and Anastasia in the 100m freestyle and  the 4×200 freestyle relay.
