70 medals and 2nd place in the overall ranking for the Deree Swim Academy in the 1st Phase of the National Championship in Ilisia!

The Deree Swim Academy participated on June 29-30 in the 1st Phase of the National Championship – Regional Championship of the Southeastern Attica, held in Ilisia, with 75 athletes.

The DCAC ranked 1st in the Women’s, Junior Women’s, Girls’, Junior Girls’ A, Junior Girls’ B, and Young Women’s categories, 3rd in the Men’s, Junior Men’s, Boys’, Junior Boys’ A, Junior Boys’ B, and Young Men’s categories, and 2nd in the overall ranking, winning a total of 70 medals!!!

The team was accompanied by our coaches, Mr. Antonis Antoniou, Mr. Vasilis Demetis, and Mr. Giannis Syrbopoulos.

Qualification for the European U18 Championship, two silver medals, and personal records for the Deree Track & Field Academy at the Panhellenic U18 Championship in Patras!

On the June 15-16, the Deree Track & Field Academy participated in the Panhellenic U18 Championship in Patras with 4 female and 3 male athletes. The results were excellent, as our athletes met expectations with personal records, two silver medals, and a qualification for the European U18 Championship, which will take place in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, from July 18-21.

Specifically, in Saturday’s preliminaries, Filippos Georgantas achieved the best time in the 100m with a performance of 10.79, which would have qualified him for the European U18 Championship, but the wind (+2.4m) exceeded the allowable limit. In the final, however, he set a personal record of 10.94, securing 2nd place in a very close race decided at the finish line.

Also competing in Saturday’s preliminaries were Aria Sarigiannidi with 15.98 (personal record) in the 100m hurdles, Sotiris Stathakos with 15.67 in the 110m hurdles, Eleni Stathopoulou with 1.50 in the high jump, and the youngest athlete of the team, Katerina Nikolopoulou, who belongs to the U16 category, with 10.98 (personal record) in the triple jump (4,94m).

On Sunday afternoon, in the long jump final, our athlete Evelin Mitropoulou achieved a jump of 6.02m, earning her 2nd place and a qualification for the European U18 Championship, as she confirmed the standard for the second time. It is worth noting that our athlete’s performance (6.08m in a previous competition) is the 13th best in Europe this year and the 11th best in Greece of all time, while she has another year in this age category!

Finally, in the long jump preliminaries, Aria Sarigiannidi with 4.90m and Katerina Nikolopoulou with 5.09m (personal record) also participated, while in the 400m hurdles preliminaries, Apostolos Kontarinis set a personal record with 60.04, but missed the final by one position. In the 200m final in the afternoon, Filippos Georgantas achieved 22.52, finishing in 9th place.

Theodoros Mitsakos in the Semifinals of the Panhellenic Men’s Championship!

The athlete from the Deree Tennis Academy, Theodoros Mitsakos, continues his amazing performances at the Panhellenic Men’s Championship, the most significant event in men’s professional tennis in Greece, held at Zappeio, from June 7-16.

Theodoros will compete in the semifinal – the match will have television coverage and will be broadcast live on Saturday by Cosmote TV at 12:00. The matches are open to the public for anyone who wants to watch them live.

Theodoros is now studying on a scholarship at a university in the USA, perfectly embodying the club’s goal of creating good students, characters, and athletes!

Whenever he is in Greece, he competes with our team, and we all rejoice in his successes!

The Deree Track & Field Academy at the Balkan U18 Championship in Maribor, Slovenia!

For the first time, one female and one male athlete from the Deree Track & Field Academy will represent our club at the Balkan U18 Championship, which will take place on July 6, in Maribor, Slovenia.

Specifically, our athlete Evelin Mitropoulou will compete in the long jump, aiming to prepare for the European Championship in her category, which follows in mid-July.

Meanwhile, Filippos Georgantas will strive to secure a spot in the European U18 Championship with a good performance in his race. Notably, on Saturday, June 22, Filippos participated in the “Christos Voudouris 2024” games in Thiva, securing 2nd place with a time of 10.87 in the 100m. Apostolos Kontarinis also took part in the games, achieving a personal record of 55.82 in the 400m, while Aria Sarigiannidi recorded a performance of 5.19 in the long jump.

The Deree Soccer Academy’s summer celebration!

The Deree Soccer Academy held its summer celebration on campus for the end of the season on June 10-11. The season ended with a beautiful and joyful event, full of music, games, and plenty of fun!

Parents were invited to showcase their football skills against our athletes in 20-minute matches. After the matches, there were diploma awards. Scores were not kept during the matches, as all participants are considered winners!

Significant distinctions came for the Pierce students participating in the Pierce Afternoon Sports program at the “ATTICA CUP” karate tournament, which took place on Saturday, June 15, in Agios Dimitrios, Attica, under the auspices of the Hellenic Karate Federation.

One gold, one silver, and one bronze medal were the impressive results after spectacular matches and efforts, which left our coach, Mr. Konstantinos Nikiforos, pleased!

The U13-1 team of the Deree Soccer Academy won the Soccer Link championship!

The U13-1 team of the Deree Soccer Academy won the Soccer Link championship, in which they participated.

Our athletes put in a lot of effort during this season, both in training and matches, resulting in winning the championship with only one loss to their credit.

Warm congratulations to our team athletes and our coach, Mr. Thodoris Fatouros, for the effort and attitude they demonstrated throughout the year.

Deree Basketball Academy hosted Olympiakos Volos!

On the June 8-9, the team of Olympiakos Volos visited the Deree Basketball Academy at the premises of the American College of Greece.

During the team’s visit, friendly matches were held between the sections of the two teams. The games gave the opportunity to our athletes to compete and test their strength against a worthy opponent.

We sincerely thank the team of Olympiakos Volos for their excellent cooperation and the sportsmanship they displayed.

We hope these games mark the beginning of a long-term friendship and collaboration.

 

Limit for the European U18 Championship and individual records for Deree Track & Field Academy athletes!

The first weekend of June was demanding for the Deree Track and Field Academy in pursue of the limits for the Panhellenic Championships coming up. The athletes competed in the season’s last championship, and the throws triathlon for the U14 category.

In the one-day meeting “Ameinias Pallinefs 2024” of Saturday, June 1, held in Pallini we had the most important performance with 6,08m. in the Long Jump by Evelyn Mitropoulou. Evelyn achieved the limit (5,80m) for the European Championships U18.

All the rest of the participating athletes brought wonderful results and even some personal records.

At the U14 Championships, on Sunday, June 2, that held in Doukas’ School, participated 11 DTFA athletes.

Filippos Agalos won Vortex 1st place, while Nancy Vlachou won 2nd place at 50m.

Our U10 and U12 athletes also gave their best in dashes, Vortex, and Long Jump winning warm applauds.
