Welcome back George Vallas!

We are happy to welcome George Vallas back to the DCAC team!

George will assume the role of Manager – Swimming Programs Development, in our effort to have a top quality program in benefit of our athletes.

He will be working with us in parallel with his duties at the Greek Swimming Federation as Technical Advisor, has a vast experience in the sport, and during his first tenure with the DCAC and the Deree Swim Academy highly contributed in building a top notch program!

He holds a Bachelor in Sports Science and Physical Education with specialty in Swimming from the University of Athens, a Master’s Degree in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics with specialty in Nutrition and Exercise from Harokopio University of Athens, and speaks English, and Greek.

George, welcome back home and good luck in your new duties!

 

Successful performance of the Deree Tennis Academy in ITF and Tennis Europe International Tournaments!

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes performed very well at the international ITF and Tennis Europe tournaments taking place between October 30 and November 4 in Cyprus, Malta, and ancient Olympia.

At the Cyprus ITF U18 tournament, Giannis Sakkas placed 2nd at doubles, while Elli Gerontikou placed 2nd at doubles at TE U16 in Malta. Antonis Malavazos made it to the tournament’s semifinals in singles. At the TE U14 in ancient Olympia, Eleni Dapsi placed 1st at doubles and 3rd at singles, while Valia achieved 2nd place at doubles.

Deree Tennis Academy results at E2 National tournament in Marathon and Tripolis.

The Deree Tennis Academy athletes brought excellent results at the E2 National tournament in Marathon and Tripolis, on October 27-31.

Konstantinos Papanastasiou got 2nd place at singles and 1st place at doubles in his category taking place in Tripolis.

Melina Papageorgiou and Alexandros Verykokos got 2nd place at doubles in A16 category, at the Marathon meeting. Paris Passas, Marily Iliopoulou and Anastasia Mpamparoutsi got 3rd place in singles, making it to the tournament semifinals in their category.

Congratulations to all athletes for participation and flawless conduct on and off the courts.

The Deree Tennis Academy performed very well in E1 tourmanent held in Larissa, as well as in E3 tournament in Corinth, on October 20-24.

Giannis Sakkas participated in an older age category and won the 2nd place in singles (U18), while Melina Papageorgiou won the 1st place in doubles (U16), with her teammate Eleftheria Tsigarida. Ethalia Andrianou, also won the 3rd place by reaching the semi-finals in singles (U16), and Elli Gerontikou in doubles, with Antigoni Tsouga as her teammate.

Athena Pagomenou, participated in the E3 Panhellenic tournament, achieving 3 victories up to the semi-final, and won the 3rd place in singles (category).

Panhellenic records for the Deree Swim Academy in the «1st 25m Performance Swimming Competition», in Chalandri!

The Deree Swim Academy participated with seventy-one athletes at the «1st 25m Performance Swimming Competition» with significant success. The meeting was held at the Municipal Swimming Pool of Chalandri, Nikos Perkizas”, on October 21-22.

Our athletes performed amazingly, displaying overall team improvement.

Marios Vlahakis achieved a new Panhellenic record in the 100m butterfly (00:59.29) in his age group. Areti Zarbouti, in her age-group, broke the (informal) Panhellenic record, in the 200m breaststroke with a performance of (2:33.03). The record stood for 20 years!

The Deree Swim Academy successfully participated in the “World Cup Series” in Athens!

The Deree Swim Academy successfully participated with 17 athletes in the “World Aquatics Swimming – World Cup 2023 (Leg 2)”, held at Olympic Athletic Center of Athens, on October 13-15.

Our 15-year-old, Angelos Zografakis finished in the 8th place of the 200m butterfly final, with a performance of 2:13:52, swimming among world champions and Olympic medal winners.

Our swimmers in the women’s medley relay 4x100m (Ioanna Pazaiti, Areti Zarbouti, Stella Rota and Lora Ferra) had an unforgettable experience by participating against the Australian Women’s team.

Results of the Deree Tennis Academy at the E2 Panhellenic Tournament in Chalkida and Chania!

The Deree Tennis Academy participated in the E2 Panhellenic Tournament, held in Chalkida and Chania on September 29-October 3 with significant success.

Evgenia Kakari won the 1st place in doubles (U16), at Chalkida, while Marily Iliopoulou and Anastasia Barbaroutsi won the 2nd place.

In the same category, Konstantinos Papanastasiou won the 3rd place in singles, while Paris Passas and Loukas Podaropoulos won the 3rd place in doubles.

At Chania, Christos Papachristou won the 3rd place in singles and doubles (in the U16 category).

Results of the Deree Tennis Academy at the Panhellenic Men’s Tournament in Litochoro and E3 U16 Open in Lamia!

The Deree Tennis Academy participated in the Men’s Panhellenic Championship, at Litochoro and in the E3 U16 Open at Lamia, both held on September 21-24.

Odysseas Pantelidis won the 2nd place with 4 wins, while Melina Papageorgiou also won the 2nd place with 3 wins, both reaching the final.

Deree Track and Field Academy results at the U14 Championship in Spata!

The Deree Track & Field Academy excelled at the U14 Championship in Spata, held on Saturday, September 23.

Dimitris Agalos won the 2nd place in the 800 meters, while Marialena Kalampogia won the 3rd place in the long jump and Chryssa Papandreou won the 3rd place in the shot put.

Our athletes were accompanied by coaches Despina Horozoglou and Vicky Kalogeropoulou.

Results of the Deree Tennis Academy’s participation in the U18 ITF Junior Tour International Tournament in Mytilini!

The Deree Tennis Academy participated in the U18 ITF Junior Tour International tournament with 6 athletes. The tournament was held in Mytilini on September 17-24, with 80 children and 24 different nationalities taking part.

Yiannis Sakkas, who played with Thanos Kakouridis, won the 3rd place in doubles, while Elli Gerontikou and Evgenia Kakari reached the 16 finalists in the singles, achieving their first victories in an ITF competition.

In their ITF tournaments debout, Antonis Malavazos achieved two wins, while George Tzitzimikas achieved one win.

Ethalia Andrianou and Yiannis Sakkas reached the top 32 of the general rank.
